An electronic revolution – bulk recruitment management
 
Background
Following a complete refurbishment of their premises in Sydney our client, part of a global hotel chain, needed to recruit 700 staff. To find the calibre of individual to meet the customer service levels for which their brand was renown they expected to have to process 3-4,000 applicants. Their objective was to do this as cost effectively as possible whilst promoting a modern out there image.
Cynergy Recruitment were retained to design the business process then develop and implement an Internet based recruitment system to manage the process.
Objectives
Our objective was to design a process which reflected our client’s requirements and develop a cost effective system that would handle the workload and be easy for the applicants and recruiters to use.
Solution
From our verbal briefing we designed a process in which a series of assessment centres were organised and every applicant was invited to attend. Successful applicants were invited for a second assessment followed by a panel interview.
The recruitment system used the modules developed for Cynergy Online customised to meet this unique process. When applicants applied online they booked in for a particular session. As each session filled the system automatically registered the fact and applicants were steered to the next available session. Those who were successful at this stage were invited by e-mail to log into the system and select a second session. The system also automatically collected information on visa status; preferred employment and referees. All applicant communication was handled via e-mail generated by the system as were the letters of offer.
Throughout the project we have tailored the system to meet the changing demands of our client as they assessed applicants.
Key Results
The system has processed over 7,000 applications at a cost of less than $8 per application or $78.50 per placement.
Commentary
Our client has benefited from having their recruitment process scoped and documented and is managing the start up recruitment at a fraction of their original budget.
