Company turn around – management assessment
 
Background
Our client, a global wine company, was in the process of a major restructure in order to return to profitability. The marketing team was identified as being the one of the key areas for improvement.
Cynergy Recruitment were retained to conduct a management assessment of the marketing team and make recommendations in respect to suitability for inclusion in a revised structure.
Objectives
Our objective was to design a competency based process which gave our client an objective assessment of each of the staff. In addition we wanted top provide a bench mark against the market and a plan for each of the candidates requiring professional development.
Solution
From position descriptions developed by our client’s Global O & D Manager we developed a behavioural interview guide covering the required competencies. For each competency we used a grading system which fed into a matrix giving an overall status for each candidate and allowed them to be ranked against their contemporaries and the market benchmark. Once candidates had been interviewed results were forwarded to management and staff had the opportunity to contact the consultant for feedback.
Key Results
Over 40 staff were assessed and graded into 3 groups: unsuitable; suitable with professional development; suitable now. The resulting program of change and restructure resulted in our client putting together an exceptional team which made a significant contribution to a turn around in tits profitability.
Commentary
The process developed was so highly regarded by our client that similar exercised have been conducted across the sales and finance areas with positive results.
